Pine Rest Pediatric Center of Behavioral Health | Grand Rapids, MI 2026
A branch of juneberry in the wind! Along this hallway the breeze shakes the branch and carries sprigs, leaves and berries away with it. This piece was designed to complement the two other juneberry pieces I installed on site in late 2025.
Juneberry is known by many names, and is a beloved and hardy native North American fruit shrub. It is a resilient and generous plant, bearing delicious berries with little coaxing. Because of these attributes it can be seen as a symbol of rebirth and resilience.
Keeping in theme with the treehouse theme of the rest of the facility, these colorful branches are meant to deliver a bit of respite for staff.
